work, work, work, work.....

Since July I have been working at the Utah Valley Specialty Hospital and I absolutely LOVE it! I have learned a lot from working there and made a lot of friendships with the people I work with, but mostly I have been blessed to take care of the patients that stay there. It is a Long-Term, Acute-Care (L-TAC) facility. A step below an ICU unit.. we see a lot of wounds from surgeries, car-accidents, etc. brain injuries, infections, amputations, pretty much everything... we see it! This has been a true test on whether I want to become a nurse or not, and I can't wait to be a nurse!

The other day, I took care of a 25 year old, single mom who had been in a single car roll-over and suffered from a brain injury. She had been at our facility for about 2 weeks totally comatose. For the last 2 weeks, she has been getting more of her motor skills back, she was able to communicate with me by giving me a "thumbs-up" or "thumbs-down" I went in the other day and told her I would be taking care of her.. and she gave me a big smile. I can't even describe how amazing it is to see her recover! Incredible!

this is one of the many reasons I love my job. I am humbled by how fragile life is every day. I am so grateful for the blessing s I have in my life, my family, health, safety and the Gospel..

We recently switched our shifts to 5am-5pm.. let's just say.. I'm still getting used to waking up at 330am. This is what I am doing by 730pm after a long day of work...
